The building of Chemistry Faculty of Uzhgorod National University was constructed in 1891-1895. Formerly there was the King Catholic gymnasium named after Janos and Yurii Drugets.

On September 1, 1946 25 students came to study chemistry on the first course of the newly established chemical faculty of Uzhgorod State University. Great merit in its opening belonged to the rector – candidate of chemical science, assistant professor A.Kurishko, who was the head of Uzhgorod State University. Initially the department carried out preparation of specialists from both disciplines: physicists and chemists. However, in 1954 Physics and Mathematics were separated from its structure.
