The church of St.Yurii – is a Roman Catholic temple of XVII century. It was constructed by the head of the city – Yurii Druget – on a place of destroyed Lutheran temple. In 1695 owner of the city – earl Bercheni – continued the building. In XVIII century the temple was rebuilt in neobaroque style, famous architect Lucach worked on the design. The unusual altar in neobaroque style made by master L.Krakker in 1895 deserves special attention in the interior. A city clock was installed on the church tower in 1820 which suffered because of the fire and was restored in 1857. The clock stopped working in 1904 and was replaced by a new clock that was made by the firm of Jozsef and David Freed. It still persists. After the Soviet era, in 2000-2001, the church was repaired and handed over to the Catholic community of the city, and the statue of the Virgin was restored in the court.
