It was built in XVII century. There was a bakery on the first floor where baked a bread for Jews all over the region. Another part of the building was filled by classrooms of Jewish school for boys – The Jewish public school. Nowadays there is Biology Faculty of UzhNU. The history of Biology Faculty begins in 1945 – from the foundation of Uzhgorod University. During its existence the Faculty has issued more than 60 students, prepared more than 5,000 biologists, who work both in Ukraine and abroad. More than 100 graduates defended their dissertations and 26 became doctors of science. Following departments are functioning on the faculty: Department of Zoology, Botany Department, Department of Entomology and Biodiversity Conservation, Department of Horticulture and viticulture.
