The street named after Czech writer and public figure – Ivan Olbracht, but his real name is Kamil Zeman (6 January 1882, Semili, Bohemiia, Austria Hungary – 20 December 1952, Prague, Czechoslovakia). Adventure novel “Mykola Shuhay – thief” (1933) is a masterpiece of Ivan Olbracht. It was created on folklore and life basis. Hero of the novel – a former soldier Mykola Shuhay – is a real historical person. After the First World War Shuhay became a thief who robbed the rich people and gave to the poor ones, and who was killed by the treachery of his girlfriend Erzhika. A novel “Mykola Shuhay – thief” became legendary in Czech literature. On its basis in the seventies the playwright Milan Uhde created the musical “Ballad for bandit” which did not go from the scene for twenty years and then movie was filmed. Today in the Transcarpathian village Kolochava is a monument and museum dedicated to Ivan Olbracht where he has collected materials for his novel.
